What I’ve Been Up To
Work/Writing
It was another busy week last week, and I managed to be pretty darn productive if I do say so myself. After a bout of writer’s block, I finally finished up an essay for Medium, which got the coveted boost! (More on that in Words on the Web below)
I also got another piece of writing-related news that I’m not ready to share just yet, but it’s very exciting! Stay tuned for that soon!
General Life
My online running club, Fanthropy Running Club (FRC for short), has launched another 10 day racing extravaganza, so I spent most of the weekend walking and hiking and generally trying to get mileage for my team.
This time around I’m on team Mora Miles, the Only Murders in the Building themed team. Here’s our fancy logo, created by one of the fantastic volunteer artists in the FRC.
We’re having a lot of fun with gifs and jokes about Gut Milk (if you know you know). The race raises money for charity as well, and our charity is the National Domestic Violence Hotline. If you want to support the cause and our team, you can donate here.
Current Obsessions
TV
My husband went off to watch sportsball with his friends on Sunday, so I got to hang out alone with my dog basically all evening. I wanted to watch something, so I decided to dive back into Dead to Me on Netflix. I started watching the series ages ago but stopped after a few episodes because life. But I’ve always been curious where things went, so I marathon watched my way through season one and a couple episodes into season two. It’s a wild ride, for sure.
Podcasts
My favorite actual play Pathfinder podcast, The Glass Cannon, is finally back with season two after a long hiatus from their flagship. It’s a whole network at this point with so much going on, but nothing quite beats the standby Pathfinder actual play where it all began for me personally.
New episodes premiere on YouTube at 8pm on Thursdays and I actually tried to stay up to watch the first episode on premiere day last week. I made it to about 9:20pm before giving up and vowing to finish the podcast version when I woke up. Since the initial season with five guys, I am so happy that they’ve add two female cast members for this season.
Words on the Web
After weeks of mainly doing book blog stuff and noodling around with other ideas, I finally got around to submitting something new on Medium. Many thanks to MuddyUm for giving a home to my humorous “how to” that’s basically a rant about US Healthcare in disguise—“How to Find a New Doctor in the United States.”
This got the Medium boost and has been getting a good bit of attention, which is always nice slash overwhelming (no trolls yet, but plenty of weird bot comments).
Anyways, that’s about it from me for this week! Hopefully I’ll be able to share some more of what I’ve got cooking behind the scenes very soon. What about you? How are you doing? Leave a comment and let me know.
