Happy Monday, my friends! This past week was another whirlwind, as I am still settling in to my new work routine. For the first several months after leaving my full time job to pursue writing, I wasn’t working anywhere near 40 hour workweeks and it’s taking some time to adjust to a fuller schedule again.
What I’ve Been Up To
Writing/Life
I wrote so much last week thanks to the new freelance writing gig. A wide variety of gaming-related pieces with my byline on them hit the web last week, mainly related to the Sims 4 and Pokemon, with a dabble in Baldur’s Gate 3.
I also got to hop on Pokemon Scarlet & Violet to catch a Clefairy in order to write a nifty little guide for the full moon Clefairy event on Friday. It’s still weird to play video games for work, but here we are.
General Life Updates
Now that the weather is cooling down, it was time to help my husband finish the greenhouse he’s been building. It’s so big that some tasks require two people, and so I got recruited to help pull the plastic sheeting over the frame on Friday afternoon.
Saturday, we headed to the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival for our annual visit. It was closing weekend, which we’ve never attended before, and we both enjoyed the cooler weather (me in particular since I dress up and usually get way too hot).
Current Obsessions
Gaming
In addition to writing up a storm on the daily, I’ve been immersed in video games. Now that knowing what’s going on is part of my job, I’m a little too aware of all the shiny things out there. I sold myself on the latest Sims 4 stuff pack (Home Chef Hustle) and am resisting several cozy cooking games because I don’t have time!
Also continuing to play Baldur’s Gate 3, where I have still not successfully romanced Astarion, though I’m pretty sure Lae’zel might be into me based on a dialogue prompt option I didn’t choose. (“Is it just me, or have you been looking at me differently lately?”)
TV
Great British Bake Off is BACK! My friends and I do a fantasy league every year, and we’re at it again this year, in challenge mode now that they live in Baltimore. So far so good with episode one, which gave all the cozy vibes we want and need from Bake Off.
Words on the Web
What a week! My first feature for Gamepur went live, in which I discuss the surprising effect Baldur’s Gate 3 had on my social anxiety.
Witchtober is really up and running now that we’re in October, but first I had to share my best books of September roundup on the book blog.
That’s it for this week! Have you been getting into the fall vibes? Let me know!
