I just love it when a fresh month starts on a Monday. It’s like, double reset button, and for all that Garfield complains about Mondays, I like the clean slate for a week of possibilities ahead.
I write to you in my Basic Witch hoodie, having recently removed my full costume in lieu of something warmer. Worry not, though—Azula and I took a nice stroll of the neighborhood in our Halloween best.
Wherever this Monday finds you, I hope you can take a moment to just breathe deep and find one thing to center in gratitude as we roll into a fresh new month.
Now that that’s settled, on to the recs!
Book Rec of the Week
It may be November but, fun fact, you can read about witches all year round and I’m recommending Lana Harper’s Payback’s a Witch this week.
I’ve been slowly working my way through this one as part of a buddy read with my IRL book bestie, and it’s a delight. Azula and I appreciate that the main character has a doggo instead of a cat.
Add in a magic system that’s deeply interesting (if a bit, um, four kinds of people, if you know what I mean) and a Sapphic love story and you’ve got yourself a spell of a read. If you enjoy witchy reads and rom coms that have a good dose of plot besides the main pairing, this book is the one for you. And if Goodreads calling it “The Witches of Thistle Grove #1” is any indication, we’ll be revisiting this magical small town soon enough!
Tarot Reading of the Week
Card of the Week: Two of Cups
Deck Used: Journey Tarot
This one speaks to me of emotional balance, weighing the scales to see which relationships in your life need tending and which may be taking too much of your emotional energy at this time.
Take a moment this week to take stock of the relationships that fuel you, and be open to the treasures they hold. At the same time, don’t be afraid to say no when you need to step back and tend to the first and truest relationship you have—the one with yourself.
Words from the Web
Blogtober has come to a close, so I’ll no longer be writing a blog post a day. As much as I’ve enjoyed the challenge, can’t say I’m sad to be able to skip a day or two again! Plus, it’ll give me more time for reading other people’s words on the web, as well.
My personal favorite thing I’ve read this past week has to be That Happy Reader’s “Who Wears it Better” feature in which they look at different covers for the same book and pronounce which one is best dressed. It was a lot of fun to read, and I do hope it’ll become a regular feature on the blog!
As for me, well, there’s a post a day to be had from the past week over on Your Book Friend. Since we’re rounding into a new month, I’ll feature my roundup of October’s best reads to say hale and farewell. Here’s a little something magical to go along with it, because, why not?
Happy Monday and happy November, my friends! I hope this week brings a little time to nourish your emotional center and cherish the relationships that support you. As always, let me know if this week’s card comes up for you in any way!
