Hello, all! It’s lovely to hop into your inboxes once again after my hiatus. As promised, I’ve taken the time to reflect and take your feedback about what’s next for the newsletter.
So, here’s the thing. I have a book blog and I post there nearly every day. Writing about books (often the same books) for this newsletter began to feel, frankly redundant.
But I like having a space to give updates on what’s going on and what I’ve been working on, a less formal spot to chit chat. So, I don’t want to discontinue the newsletter… just rebrand it.
Going forward, I’ll use this space to provide updates on life and writing. If you’re here for the books, don’t worry! I’ll link to highlights from my book blog so you’ll still get plenty of book recs and book review goodness.
If you’re here for the Tarot, I’m going to transition to posting a Card of the Week on Insta for now. But there’s some Tarot-related news up and coming, too, so watch this space, as they say.
I hope the newsletter will be a bit more fun for me and all of you going forward. I hope you’ll stick around for the first shiny and new version when it comes out next week. There will be life updates. There will be gifs. There will hopefully not be blood, but with my tendency to fall down, who can say?
Side note: I’d love help with the name. Amanda Reads was a riff on The Amanda Show’s “Amanda Please” which I’m not sure anyone actually picked up on. But this isn’t going to be just about the reading anymore, so… new name, who dis?
Amanda writes. The A’s have it, since your fam names star with A including Azula and Andy. 🤷🏻♀️
Love the pivot! Think it's a great idea and I look forward to the new stuff with great interest. :)
I'm terrible at names so I don't have any great ideas. I do think you could stick with Amanda Reads because books are your thing, even if they aren't the focus of the newsletter. My newsletter's theme is pop culture but stories of how I've hurt myself have become a recurring topic. :)
Some options:
- Reading Amanda -- Ties into your reading persona AND the tarot. And fits the new focus on what's going on in your life, which involves some inner-looking. I dunno, seems kinda clever to me.
- Amanda & Azula -- I believe that was your dog's name? People love gratuitous pets.
- Skyrim Stories -- I would absolutely read a newsletter just of you playing Skyrim! :D
Fine, those are terrible but I did say I'm bad at names!
